St. Christopher College of Medicine

University El Hadji Ibrahima Niasse (UEIN) is chartered since February 2000 with Ref 000809/AG/MEN/DES by the Ministry of Education, Senegal and is permanently recognized by the Government of Republic of Senegal, to confer MD Degree to students who are eligible to practice medicine in the country.

Saint Christopher Iba Mar Diop (SCIMD) College of Medicine, under the university UEIN, has a main campus located in Dakar, Senegal, offering courses in French from 2003 and has a continual growing population of medical students. The student population is obtained from 21 different countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, and Central Republic of Africa, Comoros, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, France, Gabon, Guinea Conakry, Guinea Bissau, Lebanon, Mali, Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, Chad, Togo, Tunisia, and USA).

SCIMD College of Medicine is planning to run satellite sub-campuses in Africa and other continents, similar to the one in Dakar ,Senegal.

Courses offered at SCIMD College of Medicine are at the forefront of academic knowledge and are taught by enthusiastic and encouraging faculty that creates an excellent environment of learning. Our main focus is to provide quality education, which will help students to achieve basic and advanced medical knowledge to develop their insights into clinical practice.

An English program  has been introduced at the main campus in Senegal from January 2008.


St. Christopher has a 4 year and 6 year program.

Basic Sciences

This aspect of the 4-Year or 6-Year MD program is for the span of the first two (2) years. The first year comprises three semesters conducted in the Main Campus, Dakar, Senegal . Each semester is of 15 weeks duration.

Second Year - This comprises of fourth and fifth semesters, each of fifteen weeks duration which are conducted in the Main Campus, Dakar, Senegal.

Clinical Sciences

Introduction to Clinical Medicine

The second year of medical school ends with the Introduction to Clinical Medicine program and enters into the third year to begin the clinical clerkship program. In the first two years of medical school, students focus on basic knowledge of health and disease and are introduced to the care of individuals and populations.


Premedical Program    $6,500        per 15-week semester

Basic Sciences             $9,000        per 15-week semester

Clinical Sciences        $10,000       per 12-week semester

Graduation Fee $1,000.00


Licensure in the United States of America

Graduates of St. Christopher Iba Mar Diop College of Medicine may practice medicine in the United States through the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). 

Licensure in Canada

Graduates of the SCIMD College of Medicine are eligible to be awarded the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada, after passing its stipulated qualifying examinations.

Licensure in Senegal

Graduates are able to practice in Senegal as well.
