Application Procedure

Stage A: After reading the admission requirements, email our customer service department at info@ims-medstudy.com so we can provide you with necessary information/documents to apply to the University of Milan. The application procedure is different for EU and non-EU citizens.

European citizens, non-EU citizens resident in Italy with a current, valid permesso di soggiorno (residence permit) and natives of Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Lichtenstein can apply to the university like Italian citizens, submitting their admission application directly to the University, together with the documentation pertaining to their foreign academic qualifications. They must send completed documents  to the Italian diplomatic delegation in the country where they obtained their secondary school diploma, so that the Italian embassy or consulate can issue the "Dichiarazione di valore in loco ".

To receive the documents, please email IMS at info@ims-medstudy.com.

Non-EU citizens resident abroad must submit a pre-application request to the Italian Embassy or Consulate in their country of residence (Stage B - pre-enrolment).

Stage B:  Pre-enrolment for Non-EU citizens: Non-EU citizens who reside abroad must submit a formal pre-enrolment application to the Italian diplomatic delegation in their home country from late May to the deadline established by each Italian diplomatic authority. The student cannot apply directly to the Univeristy if he/she missed pre-enrolment with the Italian consulate. Pre-enrolment with the consulate is the only possible way.

To receive the pre-enrolment form, please email IMS at info@ims-medstudy.com.

Stage C: Enrolment: Fill out the international medical school application form. Contact info@ims-medstudy.com to receive the application form. Students must read the application carefully and submit all supporting documents to the contact details outlined in the application form. Deadline is August 29th.

The supporting documents are:

  • A secondary school diploma, translated into Italian by an official translator, authenticated by the authorities of the country in which it was issued and accompanied by a Dichiarazione di Valore in Loco (Certificate of Equivalence of Qualification) from the Italian Embassy of the same country. Students with additional degrees can transmit translations, but is not mandatory; the translation of their secondary school diploma is sufficient. Applicants who are unable to get hold of their diploma in due time will be allowed to apply on a conditional basis, but must submit the diploma, translated, authenticated and accompanied by a Dichiarazione di Valore in Loco (Certificate of Equivalence of Qualification), by the date of enrolment.

  • Post-secondary diploma or university transcript (only in case of secondary qualification awarded after 10 or 11 years of global schooling)
  • Application fee (50 Euros)
  • Copy of the front page of the passport

Each qualification must be accompanied by a Dichiarazione di Valore in Loco (Certificate of Equivalence of Qualification), issued by the Italian Embassy in the country in which the qualification was awarded.

Note: After reviewing the pre-application requests received from the foreign diplomatic representations, the universities will contact the latter with a list of candidates who are eligible to sit the necessary entrance examinations. Therefore to find out if yor pre-application request has been accepted, you must contact the Embassy or Consulate where it was originally submitted.

The diplomatic representation will deliver the above documents to the eligible candidates, who will hand them to the university by the deadline specified in the admission announcement.

If you have any questions regarding your application, please email IMS at info@ims-medstudy.com.
