Application ProcedureThe 6 steps below are all that is required for you to apply for admission to the University of your choice.
* If final certificates are not yet available, then please send a letter from the current school explaining which courses will have been completed by end of year. According to the requirements of the Ministry of Education in Slovakia, applicants need to get (depending on the country) either the original or verified copy of the school leaving certificate apostillized. However, we recommend submitting the verified copy of the original since this document remains with the Regional School office. The certificate must be in the official language of the country where it has been issued. (usually by the Ministry of Education). The contact details for competent authorities are on the following link: http://www.hcch.net/index_en.php?act=conventions.authorities&cid=41 In case the country does not issue an Apostille, applicants must have the documents „superlegalized“. Superlegalization is done by the Ministry of Education, followed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and finally by the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in that country or in the country which acts on its behalf. Exceptions: Applicants who have completed their secondary education in the following countries: Czech Republic, Croatia, Hungary, Germany, Poland and Romania. These applicants do not need their school leaving certificate apostillized but need to provide a verified copy of their school leaving certificate/high school diploma and an official translation to the Slovak language. Applicants, whose secondary education is not equivalent to the secondary education in the Slovak Republic are required to take a one year preparation course in Biology, Chemistry, Biophysics, Slovak Language and the English Language. It is imperative that students check for updates on the UPJS website. Stage B: Sign up for the preparation course (These courses are not mandatory but were designed specifically to help students pass the rigorous university entrance exam). Stage C: Sign up for, and pass the entrance exam. Stage D: Receive a university acceptance/rejection letter or provisional acceptance* letter. *The provisional acceptance letter means that your admission into the university is pending until all complete documents are submitted and the applicant passes the the entrance exam in Biology and Chemistry. Stage E: If accepted to the University, students must complete as follows for registration: Pay the registration fee, CV, three passport size photographs, Verified copy of the birth certificate. If it is issued in another language besides English or Slovak, a notary authorized translation to English or Slovak is required. Recognition of courses: Students with a Bachelor’s in Science (BSc.) degree interested in being exempt from courses must provide transcripts of BSc and a detailed syllabus describing all courses studied, the subjects they included, and the number of hours studied in each. Students need to provide an original or notarized copy of the document(s) and it must be translated by an official translator to English or the Slovak language. Stage F: Pay the tuition fee. Documents must be submitted to the following address: International Medicine Studies, s.r.o.
