Milan University - 6 Year Medical Degree ProgrammeThe international medical school of the University of Milan offers an intensive 6 year programme, taught exclusively in English by Italian professors and by European and North American visiting professors. The international medical school is a single-cycle degree programme (Laurea Magistrale a ciclo Unico). Single-cycle degree courses do not draw a distinction between the initial three-year period of study and the subsequent two-year period of specialisation; the entire study cycle is structured over a single period six years, at the end of which it is conferred a 2nd level degree (laurea magistrale).
The course emphasizes detailed planning of student activities, practical experience gained during the training process, and on cultural and language tools. The distinctive features of the international medical school are as follows:
- International profile with lessons held in English by Italian professors, enhanced by visiting professors - from leading European and North American universities.
- Innovative teaching methods - problem-based learning through structured training, small groups and discussions of clinical cases. The school will also offer exchange programs with foreign universities, which is seen as a key ingredient in enriching the learning experience.
- Highly integrated curriculum with teaching activities and classes divided into blocks from the first year, and specially- designed programs of integrated content for a limited number of students.
- Early clinical experiences in the hospital’s clinical and diagnostic divisions to explore the direct links between basic science and its practical application, and to provide a deeper understanding of the complexities of health care.
