Master's in Psychology

The Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Slovakia, offers an excellent two years programme for a Master degree in Psychology, taught exclusively in English. 

Each academic year is divided into two semesters with a substantial winter and summer breaks.

Graduates of this program acquire theoretical knowledge in a range of preclinical and clinical topics. With regards to practical knowledge, students learn therapeutical and clinical methods and acquire qualifications for specializing in various respective fields and in research.
 

Program structure

The university study at FF UPJŠ is deemed completed by passing the State examinations, to which the students are admitted after having met all the conditions laid down by the laws of the Slovak Republic and the internal regulations of UPJŠ and FF UPJŠ,

After successful completion of and graduation from the study programme, FF UPJŠ shall award the student the academic degree of Master and will issue to them the documents testifying to proper completion of the study under HELA. The above academic degree is valid in the Slovak Republic. FF UPJŠ bears no responsibility for its recognition abroad. Issuance of the documents evidencing the completion of the study shall be subject to meeting the obligations under this Agreement, the UPJŠ and FF UPJŠ internal regulations and other laws of general application. The applicant must confirm the eligibility of the degree in their home country. IMS will help with this process as much as possible.

In order to finish the degree requirements, the student must complete:

1. Total 120 credit hours

2. Final state exam:

  • Psychodiagnostics - oral exam,
  • Clinical Psychology or Psychology of Work and Organization, or Counseling and School Psychology – oral exam
  • Oral Defense of Masters Thesis

Thesis option: The Master's thesis involves an original research project. Students must prepare a thesis proposal, collect and analyze data, submit a written thesis, and give an oral defense. The thesis must be accepted by the thesis committee.
